W Magazine China’s Dance Dance Dance! is an expressive fashion editorial that explores motion and high-contrast aesthetics through an avant-garde lens. The series synthesizes studio-based sculptural portraiture with urban location work, leaning into a saturated color palette and bold, graphic compositions. Photographer Nick Yang directs the series, utilizing both crisp studio lighting and natural daylight to capture dynamic movement. The work features highly stylized hair by Zhou Xue Ming and dramatic makeup by Yooyo Keong Ming—often incorporating glitter, glossy red tones, and elaborate textures—while fashion editor and stylist Austin Feng builds architectural silhouettes through layered, voluminous garments. The project features models Qun Ye, Xie Chaoyu, and Zhengyang Zhang, whose performance-driven poses emphasize fluid movement against both sterile grey backgrounds and modern cityscapes.
