For 'The Artisan' issue, W Magazine China delivers a visually dense editorial exploration titled 'yesterday&tomorrow.' Photographer Zhong Lin captures model Libby Bennett in a series of avant-garde portraits that lean into maximalist silhouettes and tactile, sculptural garment construction. The project draws from a diverse palette, alternating between stark monochrome compositions and vibrant, high-contrast imagery. Working closely with fashion editor and stylist Austin Feng, the series features complex layering, combining historical tailoring with surrealist accessories. Makeup artist Yooyo Keong Ming grounds the highly stylized ensembles with detailed beauty work, often focusing on defined brows and expressive, tonal palettes. Each frame utilizes controlled studio lighting to highlight the intricate textures of lace, leather, and layered textiles, maintaining a consistent focus on craftsmanship.
