W Magazine China
Bauhaus gal inspired by Chen Ke

Mar 2026
In a striking convergence of fine art and high-end fashion, W Magazine China delivers a visionary fashion editorial that pays homage to the seminal Bauhaus movement through the lens of contemporary artist Chen Ke. This project breathes life into the rigid geometry and vibrant primary color palettes characteristic of Bauhaus design, translating those abstract principles into a tactile, wearable reality. Photographer Zhong Lin captures the collection with clinical precision, utilizing studio strobe setups to emphasize the clean lines and volume of the garments, while a secondary series employs 35mm film to add a layer of grainy, cinematic texture that heightens the emotional intensity of the portraits. Central to the narrative is model He Cong, whose poise and sculptural styling bring a sense of avant-garde minimalism to the set. Fashion editor and stylist Austin Feng orchestrates a symphony of color-blocked textiles and architectural silhouettes, further refined by the hair styling of MingHu Zhang and makeup artistry by Yooyo Keong Ming. The editorial does not merely reference Chen Ke’s iconic Bauhaus Girl series but inhabits it, with the models becoming living manifestations of the artist’s smooth, geometric forms. Through its meticulous framing and bold aesthetic choices, this shoot stands as a masterclass in modern editorial composition, successfully blurring the boundaries between historical art movements and current luxury fashion trends.
