MZ Wallace
Fall 2024 Ad Campaign

Oct 2024
For the MZ Wallace Fall 2024 campaign, the brand departs from traditional luxury tropes, opting instead for a disruptive, dual-pane aesthetic that forces a conversation between commercial product photography and raw, irreverent illustration. Under the creative direction of Monica Zwirner, Lucy Wallace Eustice, and Dennis Freedman, the project leans into a surrealist dialogue. By pairing the signature quilted textures of MZ Wallace bags with the distinctively dry, handwritten wit of artist David Shrigley, the campaign subverts expectations. Photographer Raymond Meier captures these juxtapositions with precision, utilizing both cinematic studio strobe techniques and clean, editorial minimalism to anchor the whimsical graphics—ranging from penguins and beetles to minimalist lemons—against the refined silhouettes of the brand’s accessories. The execution is remarkably sharp; whether it is a handbag resting atop a cluster of golf clubs or secured to a chair with ribbon, the imagery feels curated yet playfully chaotic. Set designer Charlie Welch contributes to this layered visual narrative, crafting environments that allow the contrast between the organic, hand-drawn ink elements and the polished, high-contrast fashion photography to breathe. This intersection of high-concept art and Bags & Accessories fashion creates a campaign that is as much a mood piece as it is a commercial vehicle, effectively utilizing live-action technique to breathe vitality into a static medium.
