Maison Margiela
'Scentsorium Collection' Spring 2026 Ad Campaign

May 2026
The Scentsorium Collection Spring 2026 ad campaign for Maison Margiela is a masterclass in conceptual fragrance marketing, blending high-concept editorial photography with an evocative, cinematic sensibility. Under the vision of creative director Fabien Baron, the project channels a raw, emotional narrative that transcends traditional beauty advertising. The campaign utilizes a stark, high-key studio strobe aesthetic to anchor the delicate, artisanal nature of the scents against themes of decay and desire. Through the lens of director of photography Darius Khondji, the imagery oscillates between intimate portraiture and sculptural product studies, pairing crystal-clear glass bottles with organic elements like charred paper, thorny branches, and flickering flames. Featuring talent Lulu Tenney and Leon Dame, the project leans into a sense of emotive turbulence, characterized by dramatic, high-contrast black and white photography that captures everything from silent, laughing intimacy to visceral, screaming intensity. Every composition—executed with meticulous floral and prop styling—serves to ground the abstract fragrance chapters, such as Blaze of Stillness and Silent Fury, in tactile reality. This fusion of avant-garde fashion DNA and sensory exploration defines the collection, positioning each fragrance not merely as a product, but as an atmospheric experience. By stripping back the background to a neutral, minimalist stage, the campaign forces an unrelenting focus on the interplay of texture, shadow, and human connection, establishing a bold new visual language for the house.
