MAC Cosmetics
Nudes Contour Campaign

Mar 2026
MAC Cosmetics leans into the art of minimalism with its latest Nudes Contour campaign, a series that reinforces the brand's position as a titan of the beauty and cosmetics industry. Through a series of sharp, intentional compositions, the project strips away the noise to focus on the structural elegance of its latest range. Photographer Alex Black employs high-key lighting and precise studio strobe setups to turn liquid foundation bottles, sleek lip gloss tubes, and professional applicators into architectural elements. Under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti, the campaign rejects the typical chaotic allure of beauty advertising in favor of deliberate, clean, and highly organized visual storytelling. By placing individual product droplets alongside polished tools like silver eyelash curlers, the visuals emphasize both the tactile, matte texture of the packaging and the creamy consistency of the formulas themselves. The result is a masterclass in commercial product photography, where the stark white backgrounds amplify the sophisticated ombre finishes and neutral color palettes. Each frame serves as a testament to the brand's heritage, inviting the viewer to appreciate the utility of the product through a refined, modern lens that feels both premium and accessible. This approach creates a cohesive identity that allows the tools of the trade to stand on their own merit, reflecting a commitment to high-end aesthetic precision.
