Le Grand Bazar
Brand Identity

Jun 2020
The brand identity for Le Grand Bazar, located on the prestigious Rue d'Antibes in Cannes, France, serves as a masterclass in contemporary retail design. Orchestrated with precision by Campbell Hay, the visual language breathes life into the specialty retail space through a sophisticated interplay of bold geometry and restrained typography. The project utilizes a striking palette of vibrant orange, deep purple, and olive green, which are thoughtfully balanced against clean, neutral backgrounds to create a distinct, memorable aesthetic. Throughout the collateral, from minimalist business cards to structural packaging, the design employs vector-based clarity to maintain a professional, high-end feel. Photographer Wai Ming Ng captures this identity through a series of commercial shots that oscillate between stark, studio-lit product photography and artistic, cinematic explorations of the brand in its urban context. The deliberate use of soft, diffused light and a shallow depth of field in the window displays adds an atmospheric layer to the corporate identity, grounding the brand in the physical retail environment while remaining elevated and modern. By blending sharp graphic rigor with a touch of artistic intrigue, this identity system successfully navigates the delicate balance between commercial utility and brand storytelling. The result is a cohesive, forward-thinking visual presence that feels both timeless and perfectly suited to the stylish, vibrant energy of the French Riviera.
