Ray’s Waterfront
Brand Identity

Oct 2026
The brand identity project for Seward, Alaska’s Ray’s Waterfront synthesizes maritime heritage with a clean, contemporary design language. Developed by Base Design, the visual system leans into a bold red and cream palette, utilizing hand-drawn typography and playful character illustrations to bridge the gap between historic local imagery and modern commercial collateral. The project encompasses a wide range of touchpoints, from illustrated placemats and custom stationery to environmental signage. Illustrator Jake Foreman contributes recurring nautical motifs, while photography by Jack Bool provides an editorial perspective on the restaurant’s rugged coastal setting and interior atmosphere. The work incorporates a minimalist aesthetic, utilizing varied techniques such as ink illustration, neon fabrication, and film-based photography to ground the brand in its specific Alaskan environment.
