Bio

Jack Bool is a Los Angeles-based photographer whose work intricately weaves narrative and visual storytelling. Hailing from the Bay Area, Jack honed his craft at the California College of the Arts, where he studied under esteemed professors Aspen Mays and Sam Contis. It was during this formative period that he cultivated a passion for photobooks, which led him to a pivotal mentorship with artist and publisher Paul Schiek of TBW Books. This collaboration not only deepened his understanding of photography but also connected him to a vibrant network within the photography and book communities. While collaborating with TBW, Jack simultaneously nurtured his own artistic voice, engaging in a diverse array of projects, from self-publishing zines to organizing DIY exhibitions with fellow creatives. His recent endeavors include the self-publication of a zine titled *Betty and Bobby* (2023) and curating *CITRUS* (2023), a collaborative exhibition with photographer Cole Barash. Jack's artistic practice is rooted in his fascination with the poetic and literary dimensions of photography. He believes in the power of sequential imagery to both illuminate and complicate narratives, embracing the rich ambiguity and lyrical qualities that photographs and photobooks can convey. At the heart of his work is a commitment to storytelling, capturing the essence of diverse communities, including the surfing culture of New Smyrna and the vibrant atmosphere of Waimea Bay. His distinctive approach has garnered the attention of clients such as Air Jordan, Stüssy, and Rapha, further establishing his presence in the contemporary photography landscape.
