Balmain
Holiday 2023 Ad Campaign

Dec 2023
For the Balmain Holiday 2023 ad campaign, the creative team has delivered a masterclass in high-fashion storytelling that seamlessly bridges the gap between classical luxury and modern atmosphere. Under the vision of creative director Olivier Rousteing, the campaign leans into a cinematic, wintry narrative that feels both intimate and grand. Photographed by Theo Liu, the series utilizes a mix of natural light and sharp flash techniques to pull focus toward the tactile richness of velvet, structured tailoring, and crystalline embellishments. The visuals thrive on a high-contrast aesthetic, where the stark, monochrome palettes of black and white formal wear are punctured by metallic gold hardware and vivid accents, all set against the dramatic, shifting backdrop of falling snow. The campaign reads as a sophisticated exploration of texture and silhouette, with art direction by Ben Kelway providing a refined edge to each composition. By blending high-speed freeze elements with a cinematic, moody approach to lighting, the project captures a festive intensity that feels elevated rather than predictable. Stylist Mel Ottenberg brings a polished, rigorous focus to the fashion, perfectly complemented by the precision of hair by Charlie Le Mindu and makeup by Jamal Scott. Through the work of casting director Anita Bitton and production by Now Open, every frame serves to solidify Balmain’s place at the intersection of heritage craftsmanship and avant-garde editorial minimalism, ensuring the collection’s intricate details remain the focal point of this nocturnal, snowy holiday landscape.
