Alaïa
Spring 2025 Archetypes Ad Campaign

Nov 2024
For the Spring 2025 Archetypes campaign, Alaïa continues its masterclass in editorial minimalism, stripping back the noise to focus on the intersection of form, texture, and architectural precision. Under the sharp creative direction of Pieter Mulier, the campaign captures a study in contrasts, balancing the tactile luxury of voluminous faux fur against the structured, high-gloss finish of patent leather footwear and iconic handbags. Captured through the lens of photographer David Sims, the series leverages studio strobe lighting and deliberate natural light to achieve a high-contrast aesthetic that feels both cinematic and rooted in classic fashion portraiture. The imagery features models Alix Bouthors, Mona Tougaard, and FeiFei Sun, whose profiles are elevated by the precise styling of hair by Duffy and makeup by Lucia Pieroni. By utilizing techniques such as analogue film and low-key chiaroscuro, the project emphasizes the house’s dedication to sculptural silhouettes and material integrity. This commercial endeavor avoids decorative excess, instead relying on bold, clean typography and a stark, neutral palette to anchor the collection. Through the collaboration with casting director Ashley Brokaw, the campaign effectively translates the archetype of the modern Alaïa woman—unapologetic, refined, and effortlessly timeless. The result is a cohesive, highly curated visual identity that cements the brand’s status within the landscape of luxury fashion houses.
