Project

Cosmopolitan China · The Face of Statements

For The Face of Statements, Cosmopolitan China presents a series of avant-garde beauty portraits that blur the line between editorial fashion and sculptural art. Photographed by Rambo Ding, the project centers on model Shujing Zhou, using a sequence of high-precision studio setups to explore texture, silhouette, and chromatic transformation. The work leans into surrealism and tactile storytelling, featuring an array of elaborate headpieces constructed from diverse materials ranging from film canisters and foam rollers to ethereal, fiber-based veils. Each frame employs clean, high-key and low-key beauty lighting to define the sharp contours of the garments and the detailed makeup applications, which shift from minimalist palettes to vibrant, multi-toned pigments.

Project

Cosmopolitan China · Cosmo Beauty

Cosmopolitan China's Cosmo Beauty project captures a series of beauty still life compositions, balancing luxury product design with organic, textured backgrounds. Photographer Robert You employs a combination of macro detail and deliberate lighting to document high-end fragrance and makeup items. The series leans into editorial photography, utilising hard and soft lighting to interact with tactile elements like watercolor-stained paper, layered plumage, and botanical foliage. Each frame focuses on the intersection of product form and atmospheric detail, maintaining a consistent visual identity throughout.

Cosmopolitan China · Shape of Architecture

Shape of Architecture is an extensive fashion editorial series for Cosmopolitan China that explores the intersection of sculptural apparel and avant-garde beauty. The project highlights a series of striking, high-contrast silhouettes, ranging from oversized quilted outerwear and floral-encapsulated bodices to minimalist, structured leather pieces. Photographer Jialing Hu captures these graphic forms through a lens of precision, utilizing clean studio lighting and neutral backdrops to emphasize the tactile qualities of the garments. The styling is anchored by dramatic, avant-garde hair by MingHu Zhang and precise makeup artistry by Yooyo Keong Ming, featuring everything from graphic eyeliner to bold, spiky textures that mirror the architectural theme. Casting for the project was led by Grigorii Kopa, featuring models Ying Ouyang and Zavi. The work maintains a consistent editorial aesthetic through its use of vertical compositions, clean backgrounds, and a focus on textile detail.
