The Cortège
Brand Identity

Feb 2026
The brand identity for The Cortège emerges as a masterclass in atmospheric storytelling, positioning a festive funeral for our times as a visceral, ritualistic experience. Developed by Baillat Studio, the project leans into an aesthetic of high-concept surrealism, blending cinematic photography with bold, saturated graphic design to bridge the gap between traditional ceremony and modern streetwear culture. By juxtaposing stark, arid desert environments with vibrant, glowing orange and deep navy gradients, the identity creates a visual language that feels both ancient and futuristic. The use of typography is central to this narrative, with elegant serif fonts and balanced center-aligned layouts anchoring the experimental, mystical imagery. Elements such as 3D render techniques and intricate vector illustrations elevate the branding, while the inclusion of live-action cinematography and atmospheric low-key lighting underscores the project's theatrical nature. Zach Chilcote contributes evocative illustrations that further ground the mystical themes, while motion elements from Baillat Studio bring a kinetic energy to the digital interfaces and UI illustrations. Whether seen on posters pasted to urban infrastructure or reflected in high-fashion garment screen printing, the visual system maintains a consistent, refined edge. This identity project is more than mere marketing; it is a meticulously crafted world that utilizes cinematic visuals and precise graphic design to cultivate an aura of mysterious, shared celebration.
