Acne Paper
A Blank Canvas

Jun 2026
In the striking series A Blank Canvas for Acne Paper, photographer Carlijn Jacobs collaborates with fashion director Imruh Asha to explore the visceral intersection of human form and raw artistic expression. The project functions as a high-concept fashion editorial, where the body is treated as a sculptural vessel for a vibrant, multi-layered paint application. By utilizing a masterful blend of studio strobe lighting and fluid natural light, the team creates a tactile, cinematic environment where the boundary between model and medium dissolves entirely. Key creative figures, including hair stylist Laurent Philippon and makeup artist Celine Martin, contribute to this transformative aesthetic, turning model Lulu Tenney and her counterparts into living, breathing canvases coated in saturated pigments. Set designer Hella Keck reinforces this narrative by constructing minimalist backdrops that allow for explosive, abstract paint splatters to take center stage. Through the lens of portraiture and lifestyle photography, the imagery captures dynamic, athletic poses that emphasize both the fluidity of the wet paint and the structural precision of the styling. The result is a bold, performative editorial that channels a raw, fine art sensibility, challenging traditional fashion imagery by favoring textured, emotive chaos over polish. Every frame highlights the interplay of light and pigment, securing the project as an evocative exploration of contemporary creative identity.
