Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott
Bio
Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott have forged an extraordinary partnership in the realm of photography for over 25 years, establishing themselves as one of the most innovative and influential forces in the fashion industry. Their collaboration began serendipitously in 1994 in London, where a chance meeting led to their inaugural shoot gracing the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine—a moment that would signal the dawn of a remarkable creative journey. Since that pivotal start, Mert and Marcus have produced an extensive array of iconic imagery that has defined the visual language of fashion over the past two decades. Their signature style, characterized by a masterful interplay of hyperreal color and light, has captivated audiences and garnered acclaim in prestigious publications worldwide, including Vogue (American, French, Italian, and British editions), W, Document Journal, Self Service, Interview, LOVE, Vanity Fair, and Print Publication, among others. Their artistic vision extends beyond still photography; they have directed captivating music videos for pop icons such as Madonna and Nicki Minaj, and crafted compelling advertising campaigns for an impressive roster of luxury brands, including Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Miu Miu, Versace, Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, and Louis Vuitton. For seven consecutive years, Mert and Marcus played a pivotal role in shaping the identity of Givenchy’s campaigns under the creative genius of Riccardo Tisci, marking a significant chapter in the brand's evolution into a global powerhouse. In 2017, they unveiled their first book, published by Taschen, further solidifying their legacy in the art world. Their work is not only celebrated in the fashion arena but is also proudly displayed in numerous public and private art collections around the globe, affirming their status as cultural icons in contemporary photography.
