Mei Tao, a Chinese-born photographer and director raised in the vibrant streets of Brooklyn, embodies the spirit of New York. Her animated and expressive nature, coupled with a bold aesthetic, sets her apart in the creative landscape. With a unique blend of whimsical humor and artistic candor, Mei consistently challenges the status quo in her work. Initially aspiring to be a fashion designer, Mei’s journey took an unexpected turn when she discovered her true passion lay behind the camera. After realizing that illustration wasn’t her forte, she pivoted to photography, earning her degree from the prestigious Parsons School of Design without a safety net. This leap of faith proved fortuitous, as her career flourished. Mei's distinctive vision has attracted collaborations with renowned brands such as J. Crew, Mango, Warby Parker, CVS Beauty, and Kule. She has also had the honor of photographing influential figures, including Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, Blake Lively, America Ferrera, and Awkwafina. What truly excites Mei is the collaborative experience of being on set. She thrives in the dynamic environment, relishing the opportunity to meet diverse talents and explore new locales while contributing to the larger creative endeavor.
