Nelson Mandela Foundation / Edelman · The Ode to the Troublemakers

The Ode to the Troublemakers is a documentary-style video project produced by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Edelman, focusing on the history of social movements and civil protest. The piece compiles archival footage of key historical figures alongside demonstrations and public acts of resistance. Utilizing a gritty, raw archival aesthetic, the work employs rhythmic editing and spoken-word narration to explore themes of justice and systemic activism. The visual execution favors a nostalgic tone, combining black-and-white sequences with live-action techniques to emphasize the history of public movements.
