Museum für Moderne Kunst · Brand Identity

The brand identity overhaul for the Museum für Moderne Kunst serves as a masterclass in editorial minimalism and institutional clarity. Executed with a rigorous focus on typography, the system balances the high-minded complexity of contemporary art with a functional design language that feels both authoritative and approachable. The project, brought to life through the precise graphic design of Zak Group, establishes a cohesive visual ecosystem that threads through everything from exhibition posters and environmental signage to corporate stationery and functional merchandise. By utilizing a stark, high-contrast palette of black and white, the identity allows the museum's diverse content—ranging from provocative portraiture to industrial artifacts—to occupy the spotlight without visual friction. Documentary-style photography captures how these assets inhabit the physical urban space, interacting with the museum's distinct Brutalist-inspired architecture through natural light and clean geometry. Whether it is a crumpled carrier bag treated as a canvas for the MMK monogram or a series of pamphlets showcasing curated macro photography, the system leans into a consistent, structured layout that feels inherently modern. This comprehensive approach to brand identity ensures that the museum maintains a professional and unified presence across all touchpoints, successfully bridging the gap between historical masonry and the evolving digital media landscape of global art institutions.
