Scensored

Scensored · Afterglow

Afterglow is a visceral editorial campaign for Scensored that pushes the boundaries of beauty portraiture through a lens of raw, unretouched aesthetics. Under the creative direction of Lucy Jane Brand, the project embraces a minimalist approach to document the interplay between skin texture, organic forms, and high-contrast styling. Photographer Amelia Dowd captures the series with an intimate, often macro-focused eye, favouring natural light to highlight realistic skin details, glossy lip textures, and the interplay of shadow. The imagery frequently incorporates grainy analogue film techniques and sharp typography, creating a tactile narrative that balances beauty with conceptual elements like melting ice and burning matches. Supporting the visual concept, hair stylist Janice Wu and make-up artist Shella Ruby Martin execute precise, textured looks that ground the campaign in a modern, gritty aesthetic. The work oscillates between monochromatic fashion portraits and vivid, warm-toned beauty studies, showcasing a cohesive vision of deliberate imperfection.
