NJM · Chomps

In a refreshingly absurd departure from the traditional gravitas of the insurance sector, NJM leans into deadpan comedy with its latest public awareness spot, Chomps. The project, produced by Sweet Rickey, centers on a mundane office break room setting that is quickly upended by the surreal arrival of a mascot dressed as a football-loving brown dog. By juxtaposing a clean, commercial aesthetic with the chaotic spectacle of a costumed character dumping kibble across a boardroom table, the campaign uses humor to break the pattern of standard industry messaging. The live-action technique is executed with surgical precision, utilizing high-key lighting to emphasize the jarring contrast between the office employees’ confusion and the mascot’s unbothered, enthusiastic dining habits. This lifestyle-focused narrative relies on the power of visual disruption to capture attention in an otherwise saturated market. By sidestepping overly formal tropes, the agency crafts a memorable, lighthearted moment that prioritizes engagement over exposition. The result is a bold, polished piece of creative storytelling that proves the non-profit and public awareness space can successfully embrace eccentric character-driven content to reach a broader audience, turning a simple product-adjacent gag into an effective instrument of brand differentiation that feels both sharp and inherently watchable for the modern consumer.
