Project

Nerds · Taste Buds

The latest campaign for Nerds, titled Taste Buds, leans into a high-energy, vibrant aesthetic that perfectly captures the brand's playful identity through a seamless blend of live-action technique and sophisticated 3D render / CGI. Featuring television personality Andy Cohen, the commercial juxtaposes a sunlit residential backyard with a surreal, high-end walk-in closet, creating a dynamic visual playground where humans and animated jelly-like mascots collide. The project marks a significant collaboration between creative agency Digitas and production lead William McVay, whose collective vision brings these whimsical characters to life with remarkable fluidity. As the mascots shift between smooth gel textures and crunchy candy-coated surfaces, the expert VFX / visual effects work provided by Framestore and Company 3 ensures that every transition remains grounded despite the inherent absurdity of the scene. The inclusion of bespoke sound design by JSM Music reinforces the whimsical tone, grounding Andy Cohen’s performance as he navigates these fantastical environments in his signature style. By prioritizing a seamless marriage between reality and digital artifice, this CPG commercial establishes a new benchmark for character-driven storytelling within the food and beverage industry, demonstrating exactly how a legacy brand can modernize its appeal through technically precise execution and a deep commitment to the colorful, eccentric spirit that defines the Nerds experience.
