MOCO Montpellier Contemporain · Brand Identity

The brand identity for MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain serves as a masterclass in modern institutional design, masterfully bridging the gap between historical architecture and the pulse of contemporary art. Developed by the design team at Zoo, the project establishes a visual language that is as versatile as it is striking. By leveraging a high-contrast color palette of magenta, yellow, blue, and purple, the system transforms the museum's presence across both digital and physical touchpoints. This commercial branding leans heavily into bold typography and rigid grid layouts, which create a consistent, legible framework whether applied to a sprawling light rail wrap, the minimalist UI illustration of the museum's website, or the crisp precision of printed stationery. The execution is defined by a clean, professional aesthetic that avoids unnecessary clutter, ensuring that the graphic design remains the focal point against the backdrop of an urban European cityscape. Through the strategic use of live-action technique in promotional photography and documentary-style lifestyle imagery, the brand feels grounded and accessible rather than detached. The result is a cohesive identity that feels both established and energetic, successfully unifying a diverse array of communications under a single, vibrant visual banner that echoes the institution's commitment to dynamic, accessible cultural programming.
