John Morland · Psychic Change

In the adrenaline-fueled music video for Psychic Change, artist John Morland leans into the raw, visceral sensation of freefall to mirror the thematic intensity of his latest sonic release. This cinematic project captures the ultimate act of liberation through the lens of high-altitude skydiving, grounding the abstract notion of psychological transformation in a tangible, high-energy spectacle. Through the expert production lens of Nick Haynes, the video moves beyond standard performance tropes, utilizing dynamic live-action technique to bridge the gap between performer and viewer. A man clad in a striking orange jumpsuit serves as the focal point, captured from daring low angles that emphasize his reach toward the camera as he pierces through a sea of brilliant white clouds. The edit oscillates rhythmically between expansive, wide-angle vistas that illustrate the sheer scale of the horizon and tight, granular close-ups that focus on the subject’s intense facial expressions during the descent. By prioritizing a visceral, action-oriented aesthetic, the production team crafts a visual identity that feels both immediate and expansive, effectively translating the chaotic beauty of falling into a controlled, high-definition experience. The contrast of the vivid jumpsuit against the deep, saturated blue of the sky creates a visual tension that reinforces the overarching industry narrative of transformation, solidifying the work as a masterclass in modern, emotive entertainment production.
