iMAL · Brand Identity

The brand identity for iMAL, executed by Vrints-Kolsteren, masterfully bridges the gap between digital media and physical architecture. Through the exhibition Quantum: In Search of the Invisible, the design team has cultivated a visual language that feels both clinical and inherently experimental. The project relies on a high-contrast aesthetic, defined by bold sans-serif typography layered over digital-glitch textures in electric blues, yellows, and pinks. By grounding these expressive digital elements within a rigorous, systematic grid, the identity maintains a professional clarity that translates seamlessly from technical brand manuals to large-scale exhibition signage. The execution leverages natural light and hard light to emphasize the interplay between sharp geometric graphics and historical, red-brick urban contexts. Whether applied as precise decals on glass windows or tactile material studies on curled paper with purple halftone patterns, the branding consistently leans into a minimalist, architectural ethos. The result is a cohesive, cross-platform system that transforms abstract scientific themes into an accessible public experience. By prioritizing clean information design alongside raw, artistic intuition, this identity project elevates the gallery environment into a curated reflection of modern technological culture, successfully anchoring iMAL as a destination where complex, invisible forces become tangible within the everyday urban landscape.
