Willy Chavarria’s TARANTULA Autumn/Winter 2025 collection manifests as a high-concept fashion editorial, deeply rooted in devotional iconography and theatrical staging. The project, captured by photographer Diego Bendezu with styling by Carlos Nazario, centres on a series of portraits set against ornate, altar-like installations. These backdrops feature dense arrangements of crimson anthuriums, dark grapes, and clusters of glowing pillar candles, all anchored by traditional black-and-white checkered flooring and historic stone masonry. The collection explores formal tailoring through oversized silhouettes, crushed velvets, and heavy wools, juxtaposed with religious and cultural symbolism such as rosaries, rosettes, and western-inspired accessories. Utilizing chiaroscuro techniques and analogue film aesthetics, the imagery leans into a moody, tactile visual language that highlights the structural integrity of the garments. The project features a diverse ensemble of talent, including Paloma Elsesser, Malick Bodian, J Balvin, and Indya Moore, whose presence reinforces the project’s cinematic and solemn atmosphere.
