UNDERCOVER 2027 Pre-Spring Men’s Col ...

Jun 2026
For the Undercover 2027 Pre-Spring Men's collection, designer Jun Takahashi crafts an evocative visual narrative that bridges the gap between rugged utilitarianism and high-fashion composure. Captured through the lens of photographer Mitsuo Okamoto, this editorial fashion campaign utilizes a striking chiaroscuro lighting technique to isolate subjects against an impenetrable black void, forcing the eye to settle on the intricate layering and distinct fabric textures of the garments. The project leans into a cinematic aesthetic, where each frame feels like a paused moment of introspective contemplation. Central to the visual identity is the work of set designer Haruka Kogure, who grounds the ethereal, spotlight-heavy scenes with a tactile base of raw, fibrous insulation material. This stark, textured surface provides a monochromatic counterpoint to the vibrant red jackets and military-inspired utility wear featured throughout the looks. With expert grooming support from hair stylist Yusuke Morioka and makeup artist Uda Kesho, the models embody a quiet, neutral poise that enhances the campaign's overall moody and high-contrast atmosphere. By masterfully balancing deep shadows with soft, focused light, the campaign successfully frames Undercover's latest collection as a study in contrast, elevating simple streetwear staples into a series of deeply considered, artistic portraits that feel both grounded in reality and entirely detached from time.
