SKIMS
Valentine's Day 2025 Ad Campaign

Jan 2025
For its Valentine's Day 2025 campaign, SKIMS leans into a hyper-stylized, monochromatic vision of intimacy that feels both playful and meticulously curated. Under the creative direction of Kim Kardashian, the luxury fashion brand pivots away from traditional romantic tropes, opting instead for a vibrant, pop-inspired exploration of affection. Photographer Carin Backoff captures model Rosé within a series of surrealist, heart-centric tableaus that anchor the collection in a distinctively modern aesthetic. By utilizing studio strobe lighting to maintain sharp, clean lines against solid, saturated backdrops, the campaign achieves a high-key look that emphasizes the sculptural nature of its props—from oversized, lace-trimmed frames to shattered pink hearts. The editorial photography highlights the delicate texture of the intimate apparel, juxtaposing the soft, romantic lace and kiss-print patterns against the rigid, matte surfaces of the set design. This commercial project effectively utilizes bold color blocking and consistent compositional tension to elevate standard seasonal marketing into a cohesive, high-fashion narrative. The result is a striking visual language that celebrates the Valentine season through a lens of curated artifice, perfectly balancing the brand's minimalist identity with the flamboyant, imaginative spirit of the holiday. Every element, from the deliberate, neutral gaze of the talent to the precise, sharp shadows, contributes to an atmosphere that is unmistakably editorial, reinforcing the house's dominance in the contemporary fashion space.
