Self-Portrait
"Dreams of Past Lives" Pre-Fall 2025 Ad Campaign

May 2025
For the Pre-Fall 2025 season, luxury fashion house Self-Portrait presents Dreams of Past Lives, a campaign that masterfully blends nostalgia with contemporary editorial minimalism. Captured through the lens of photographer Drew Vickers, the series features global icon Jisoo in a sequence of intimate, domestic settings that evoke the cinematic aesthetic of 1960s interior design. With creative direction led by Han Chong and Christopher Simmonds, the campaign leans into a sophisticated narrative, utilizing high-end techniques like studio strobe and natural light to emphasize the rich, tactile details of the collection. Stylist Emilie Kareh works in tandem with Ja Ryoung Choi to curate a look that balances structured silhouettes with delicate lace textures, while hair stylist Seon Yeoung Lee and makeup artist Myung Sung Lee lean into a retro-inspired beauty aesthetic, complete with voluminous bouffant styles and understated, elegant palettes. Shot on location in Seoul, Korea, the imagery utilizes chiaroscuro lighting and warm, moody tones to transform suburban and hotel interiors into stages for high-fashion storytelling. By merging classic luxury fashion house sensibilities with a distinct, cinematic lifestyle perspective, the campaign successfully elevates the collection beyond simple apparel, crafting a cohesive visual language that feels both grounded in local detail and globally resonant. This deliberate interplay between vintage-inspired decor and sharp, modern tailoring reaffirms the brand's ability to command attention through precision, poise, and atmospheric depth.
