Les Echos
Mise en lumière

Feb 2026
Mise en lumière, a high-fashion editorial production for Les Echos, serves as a masterclass in the interplay between sartorial elegance and technical filmmaking. Under the guidance of art director Giorgio Martinoli and captured by the lens of photographer Gianluca Fontana, the project leans into a minimalist studio aesthetic to emphasize the tactile construction of luxury silhouettes. The editorial, brought to life through the rhythmic and poised presence of model Nyakong Chan, features a diverse range of looks—from crisp, architectural tailoring to shimmering, fringe-heavy ensembles. Stylist Marine Chaumien crafts a visual narrative that pairs structured blazers and pleated trousers with bold, metallic accessories, while the hair styling by Leslie Thibaud and makeup by Tiina Roivainen maintain a sharp, clean focus that complements the high-contrast lighting. By incorporating live-action technique elements, such as visible camera rigs and film equipment, the production breaks the fourth wall of traditional fashion photography. This stylistic choice adds a meta-layer to the imagery, suggesting a dynamic atmosphere where the act of creation is as essential as the final aesthetic result. With its polished composition and deliberate focus on texture, Mise en lumière channels an editorial minimalism that feels both modern and timeless, perfectly capturing the intersection of high-end fashion and deliberate cinematic precision within the pages of a premier publication.
