HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE X MARK BOR ...

Aug 2026
In a striking convergence of architecture and textile design, the collaboration between Homme Plissé Issey Miyake and photographer Mark Borthwick breathes new life into the luxury fashion house’s signature aesthetic. This editorial campaign captures the essence of the collection through a series of intentional, high-contrast diptychs that emphasize the sculptural quality of the brand's iconic pleated garments. By utilizing natural light and clean, minimalist environments, Borthwick transforms simple silhouettes into cinematic statements of form and movement. The imagery leans into the interplay between sharp, geometric shadows and the soft, organic drape of the clothing, effectively highlighting the interplay of light and texture across various settings. Under the creative vision of designer Satoshi Kondo, the project elevates the inherent structural beauty of the fabric, while casting directors Joana Castro and makeup artist Sara Fonseca contribute to a grounded, human-centric portrayal of the collection. The deliberate use of live-action techniques and a sparse color palette allows the intricate, brushstroke-like patterns and exaggerated proportions of the pieces to command the frame. This series serves as a masterclass in fashion editorial minimalism, proving that when the focus remains strictly on craftsmanship and material integrity, the resulting visuals are both timeless and deeply impactful, transcending the traditional bounds of luxury fashion communication to become art in their own right.
