Smokeshow is a high-octane fashion editorial project for Icon Magazine Australia that masterfully captures the intersection of street culture and automotive performance. Centered around vintage muscle cars and track-side portraiture, the series leans into a cinematic, atmospheric mood that oscillates between gritty industrial environments and dramatic nocturnal settings. Photographer Simon Davidson documents the raw energy of the track, utilizing natural light and low-key chiaroscuro techniques to heighten the project's visceral intensity. Through the lens, dense plumes of colored smoke provide a surreal, hazy backdrop for contemporary streetwear, creating a visual narrative defined by both mechanical power and stylized composure. With fashion styling by Kim Payne, the editorial juxtaposes metallic, patterned, and utilitarian garments against the textures of asphalt, rusted steel, and polished chrome. The project is rounded out by the contributions of digital operator David Deas and videographer Stream Dulnoan Peña, who collectively capture a nostalgic, analogue-leaning aesthetic across the series.
