Dust Magazine #29 Spring/Summer 2026 ...

Jun 2026
Dust Magazine #29, titled Overload, serves as a masterclass in contemporary editorial aesthetics, blending high-fashion sensibilities with raw, documentary-style portraiture. This expansive issue leans into the tension between static, curated studio environments and the kinetic energy of urban landscapes. The series of covers, captured through the collaborative lenses of world-class photographers including Willy Vanderperre, Chus Antón, and Malick Bodian, establishes a sophisticated visual language that defines the Spring/Summer 2026 season. Central to the project is the work of iconic model Mariacarla Boscono, whose dynamic presence anchors the collection, supported by a diverse cast of models such as Jonas Glöer and Erik van Gils. The art direction, led by creative director Betsy Johnson, weaves together a narrative that feels both deeply intimate and broadly cinematic. Through the use of natural light and high-key studio strobe techniques, the imagery emphasizes the tactile qualities of the wardrobe—from structured leather and layered tulle to the fluid drape of silk—while minimalist compositions and deliberate typography keep the focus firmly on the subject's form. By integrating stylistic elements like retro pompadour hair and bold garment silhouettes, the team successfully crafts a cohesive yet multifaceted vision. Each frame acts as a standalone piece of modern art, successfully navigating the line between traditional editorial polish and a more contemporary, lived-in perspective on fashion media.
