DEEPCUTS Print Magazine is an independent editorial project exploring the intersections of urban life, street culture, and identity. Under the creative direction of Matija Gabrilo, the publication utilises a distinct visual language to document community narratives, ranging from the intricacies of skate culture to the influence of local movements in New York City. The layout design relies on a mix of minimalist typography and gritty, documentary-style photography. Frequent use of monochrome palettes, high-contrast grain, and structured grid systems creates a cohesive aesthetic that balances poetic prose with raw visual reporting. The magazine consistently leans into analogue techniques and natural lighting to emphasize an intimate, observational tone throughout its spreads. Featuring contributions such as an introduction by Timmhotep Aku, an interview by Chris Thomas, and photography by Koki Sato, the project serves as a showcase for independent journalism. The design emphasizes stark contrast, clean sans-serif typography, and expressive editorial layouts to frame personal essays and cultural commentaries.
