Clash de Cartier

Feb 2026
The Clash de Cartier campaign redefines the intersection of industrial grit and high-end luxury, positioning the iconic jewellery house within a stark, modern frame. Led by creative directors David Lane and Johanna Bonnevier, the project leans into a sophisticated editorial aesthetic that prioritizes form, texture, and the interplay of light. Photographer Kayla Connors captures the collection through a series of striking portraits, utilizing a restrained color palette dominated by concrete greys, deep charcoals, and sharp metallic tones. The visual narrative, starring actor Zhang Jingyi, relies heavily on natural light to carve out the subjects against raw, textured backgrounds, creating a tension between the delicate precision of the jewellery and the brutalist architecture of the setting. The campaign employs a deliberate blend of studio strobe and natural light to emphasize the sculptural quality of the pieces, while the use of chiaroscuro lighting techniques adds a layer of depth and cinematic intensity to the stills. By stripping back extraneous elements, the execution highlights the refined design of the bracelets and rings, ensuring the product remains the focal point of every composition. The resulting work is a masterclass in minimalist fashion photography, where the deliberate choices in attire and grooming serve to elevate the inherent elegance of the jewellery within this carefully constructed, contemporary world.
