Cake Magazine’s editorial feature, The rareness of life, explores the intersection of organic form and cosmetic artistry. Through a series of macro compositions, the project examines the tactile qualities of beauty, contrasting delicate foliage and synthetic brush fibres against skin texture and vibrant pigments. Photographer Kinwai Cheung and makeup artist Kenny Leung lean into a clean, minimalist aesthetic, using soft light to define the matte finishes and bold chromatic accents of the featured makeup. The series transitions from abstract, earthy still-lifes to intimate portraits, emphasizing human connection and refined detail in this beauty-focused editorial spread.
