DOWN AND OUT is a fashion editorial series commissioned for Cake Magazine, capturing a raw, observational approach to urban street portraiture. Featuring model Eszter Vary, the series leverages a documentary-style lens to frame its subject against an array of stark industrial and retro urban environments, from street kiosks to concrete architectural recesses. Photographer Thanos Poulimenos utilizes natural light and analogue film techniques to create high-contrast visuals, characterized by hard light and a warm, muted palette. Makeup artist Marita Politou complements these textures, notably incorporating organic botanical elements in portraiture that contrast with the structured, patterned fashion styling throughout the set.
