Valentino Black Tie
Fall 2023 Ad Campaign

Sep 2023
The Valentino Black Tie Fall 2023 campaign masterfully reimagines the tension between traditional luxury and contemporary edge, anchoring the collection in a stark, monochromatic palette that feels both timeless and urgent. Under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli, the visual narrative centers on Kaia Gerber, whose poised presence elevates the collection to a study in refined sophistication. Captured by the legendary eye of photographer Steven Meisel, the campaign utilizes a masterful command of natural light and high-contrast chiaroscuro to define the architectural silhouettes of the garments. The styling, curated by Joe McKenna, emphasizes crisp white collars and bold tailoring, which are juxtaposed against the ornate, vintage-inspired interiors meticulously crafted by set designer Mary Howard. This interplay between the heavy, classic decor and the sharp, modern tailoring produces an editorial aesthetic that is as commercial as it is artistic. With hair styling by Guido Palau and makeup artistry by Pat McGrath, every detail is calibrated to highlight the interplay of texture and form. The inclusion of vertical typography and balanced composition reinforces the brand’s heritage while keeping the focus squarely on the evolution of the modern wardrobe. Ultimately, the campaign functions as a cohesive exploration of luxury fashion, proving that even within a strict black-and-white framework, the creative collaboration between these industry titans can create a profound and enduring impact on the season.
