Description

The brand identity for Emotional Landscapes: Paisagens para emocionar, a sophisticated publication focused on the architectural and botanical legacy of Burle Marx, serves as a masterclass in editorial design. With graphic design led by PORTO ROCHA, the project masterfully balances the vibrant, saturated energy of its signature orange palette against the deep, organic greens of the subject matter. The visual language leans into a bold, architectural minimalism, where the books themselves are treated as physical objects that interact with light and geometry, often staged in deliberate, structural formations. Throughout the pages, the editorial layout creates a dialogue between bilingual text and rich photographic archival material, utilizing clean, modern typography to ground the more abstract, fluid garden designs of Burle Marx. The execution relies heavily on intentional negative space and a refined sense of scale, allowing the tactile nature of the print to shine through under soft, diffuse lighting. By integrating these artistic and commercial design elements, the project transcends traditional book design, functioning instead as an immersive study of landscape, color blocking, and typography. The overall aesthetic is one of deliberate clarity and sophisticated layering, where every spread—from high-key overhead compositions to detailed macro photography—reflects a highly curated approach to media and entertainment publishing, ensuring the work feels as much like an art object as an information piece.
