For the S/S 26 covers of theBallroom, the creative team has delivered a masterclass in editorial precision, pushing the boundaries of traditional magazine photography through a sophisticated exploration of texture, movement, and light. Under the editorial guidance of Lucia Liu, the series creates a visual dialogue that feels both cinematic and deeply intimate. Photographers Elizaveta Porodina and Leslie Zhang employ a range of technical approaches to define the season, moving seamlessly between the moody, chiaroscuro-inspired tension of high-contrast window portraits and the technical complexity of high-speed freeze photography. By incorporating dynamic liquid splashes and ethereal double-exposure techniques, the imagery transcends the standard fashion portrait, leaning into a layered, dreamlike aesthetic that prioritizes narrative depth. The collaborative nature of the production is evident in every frame, supported by the meticulous work of hair stylists Joey George and MingHu Zhang, makeup artists Clive.x and Valentina Li, and set designer Isabelle Clotten. Each cover acts as a distinct study of the models, Ava Shipp and Shu Pei Qin, highlighting their presence against rhythmic backdrops and structured architectural elements.
