Target
Brand Identity

Jan 2018
For Target's latest retail brand identity, COLLINS has crafted a visual system that masterfully balances commercial functionality with an elevated, contemporary aesthetic. The project, which spans everything from apparel hang tags and clothing labels to elaborate hosiery packaging and jewelry displays, relies on a restrained design language that prioritizes tactile quality and geometric precision. By leaning into a soft, neutral palette of creams and beiges, the work creates a cohesive environment where the typography—ranging from minimalist sans-serif treatments to typewriter-inspired accents—serves as the anchor for the entire collection. The studio strobe lighting techniques employed throughout these assets ensure that the texture of the wool garments and the matte surfaces of the product packaging remain the focal points of the consumer experience. Beyond individual product components, the identity extends into an editorial-style retail catalogue that effectively integrates lifestyle photography with crisp, informative layouts. This project underscores a sophisticated approach to e-commerce platforms and retail design, where negative space and intentional composition are used to cultivate a sense of order and modernity. The resulting brand presence is both approachable and refined, providing a consistent, polished look that elevates the everyday shopping experience while maintaining the clear, direct communication required by a global retail leader.
