Description

It Takes a Village is a conceptual fashion editorial for Side-note that explores themes of scale and perspective through a surreal, Lilliputian lens. The project leans into a cinematic aesthetic, featuring meticulously crafted miniature environments that interact with the subjects. By juxtaposing high-fashion silhouettes with dioramas of tiny houses, vehicles, and utility poles, the imagery creates a whimsical yet controlled narrative across a series of studio-based portraits. Creative direction and photography by Jake Terrey anchor the production, utilising both clean, soft-lit environments and high-contrast monochrome setups to heighten the visual impact. The fashion styling by Karla Clarke introduces textured layering and avant-garde tailoring, which is complemented by the intricate set design of Jasmine Christie. Hair styling by Daren Borthwick and make-up by Teneille Sorgiovanni provide a refined, clean finish to the conceptual staging.
