DAY AND NIGHT, an editorial project by Side-note, explores the tension between luminosity and shadow through a series of fashion and beauty portraits. Photographer Melie Hirtz leads the visual direction, moving between clean, minimalist compositions and moody, chiaroscuro-inspired studies of form and texture. Fashion stylists Karla Clarke and Lia Sadeghi define the project’s aesthetic, layering structured knitwear, graphic details, and statement accessories against neutral studio environments. The imagery transitions from soft, diffused natural light to high-contrast directional lighting to accentuate individual features and silhouettes. Key collaborators include hair stylist Gor Duryan, makeup artist Gillian Campbell, and casting director Theo Spencer, who together unify the series with polished wet-look finishes and nuanced, glowing palettes.
