London night-time venue Palais
Brand Identity

May 2026
The new brand identity for London night-time venue Palais captures the visceral energy of the city’s underground scene through a sophisticated, high-contrast visual language. Tasked with defining the aesthetic for this Festivals & Events and Media & Entertainment space, the design team at Only leans into a stark, minimalist palette where authoritative serif typography takes center stage. By balancing raw documentary photography by Shaun Peckham with refined graphic layouts, the identity bridges the gap between chaotic nightlife and premium, exclusive branding. The project expertly utilizes the chiaroscuro effect, with moody, low-key lighting and grainy 35mm film textures that ground the visual system in a tangible, cinematic reality. Whether through bold blackletter motifs or clean, symmetrical type treatments against deep matte black, the identity communicates elegance and raw power in equal measure. This is a masterclass in nightclub branding that prioritizes legible, iconic messaging to mirror the venue's status as a cultural anchor. The synthesis of editorial photography and 3D visual elements by Culte Commun creates a cohesive, multisensory environment that feels both historic and forward-looking. By anchoring the design in a timeless aesthetic, Palais establishes itself as a beacon of sophistication, proving that a brand identity can be as immersive and rhythmic as the music pulsating through the dance floor.
