For 'Workroom I', Lee Mathews shifts focus to the fundamental elements of garment construction. The project draws a direct line between the tactile reality of the studio—highlighting vintage machinery, sewing patterns, and raw materials—and the final silhouette of the collection. Photographer Levon Baird employs a stark, monochromatic palette across a series of editorial stills, utilizing analogue film to emphasize texture and form. The series moves between macro product studies and rhythmic, outdoor ensemble portraits, often using multiple exposure and low-angle perspectives to heighten the sculptural quality of the apparel. The result is a quiet, graphic exploration of the design process, grounded in natural light and raw material detail.
