For 'Workroom I', Lee Mathews explores the tactile origins of design through a series of editorial vignettes. The project captures the intersection of construction and form, moving between the quiet intimacy of the sewing studio and expansive outdoor portraits. Photographer Levon Baird employs a monochrome palette and analogue film to emphasize the raw textures of heavy paper patterns, industrial machinery, and structured textiles. The imagery shifts between macro studies of garment construction and rhythmic, multi-layered group compositions on open landscapes. By layering silhouettes and employing natural light, the work creates a sculptural visual narrative that highlights both the silhouette of the apparel and the deliberate labor behind the collection.
