Kundhardt Foundation x Apple TV+: Lincoln's Dilemma (Sequence Dir. Steve Small)

Jan 2025

Produced for the Apple TV+ docuseries Lincoln's Dilemma, this animated sequence was directed by Steve Small to visualize historical narratives with a distinct aesthetic. The project, a collaboration between Kundhardt Films and Studio AKA, utilizes a monochrome palette to translate complex events into a series of evocative vignettes. The sequence leans into atmospheric storytelling, employing charcoal illustrations and dark, moody lighting to ground the animation. Through a blend of artistic techniques, the visuals shift between silhouetted figures, landscape compositions, and sharp close-ups, creating a cinematic experience that maintains a consistent, serious tone throughout the production.
