Jil Sander
Spring 2024 Ad Campaign

Mar 2024
For the Jil Sander Spring 2024 ad campaign, creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier return to the house's signature vocabulary of architectural precision and stark, emotive minimalism. Shot on location in Tenerife, Canary Islands, photographer Jack Davison crafts a series of images that feel like a meditation on form and light. The campaign, which leans into an editorial sensibility, masterfully utilizes low-key chiaroscuro lighting to carve out the sharp contours of the collection against both natural landscapes and industrial backdrops. By emphasizing clean lines, geometric compositions, and high-contrast visuals, Davison captures models Julia Nobis and Yuto Ebihara in a state of suspended, quiet tension. The project relies on a sophisticated interplay of natural light and shadow to heighten the texture of the garments—from structured trench coats and tailored ribbed knits to accessories like ornate metal ear cuffs. With artistic direction by Heiko Keinath and precise casting by Julia Lange, the campaign feels both avant-garde and timeless. Every frame acts as a study in balance, where the graphic, often brutalist settings serve as the perfect foil for the brand’s refined silhouettes. This is contemporary high-fashion photography at its most deliberate, proving that even within a minimalist framework, there remains immense room for profound, cinematic storytelling.
