Captured during the Spring/Summer 2024 presentation, this backstage series for Issey Miyake highlights the tactile materiality and sculptural forms of Satoshi Kondo’s latest collection. Through a mix of documentary-style captures and editorial portraiture, the project documents the final preparations before the runway show. Photographer Vincent Fandos focuses on the intricate fabric manipulation and structural design of the garments, utilizing clean framing and low-key chiaroscuro lighting to isolate models against dark, minimalist backgrounds. The series emphasizes the interplay between soft directional lighting and the diverse textures of the collection, from pleated fabrics to sheer layering. Styling by Brian Molloy complements the house's avant-garde aesthetic, supported by hair artistry from Anthony Turner and makeup by Anthony Preel. The portraits capture a range of subjects, including models Akuol Deng Atem, Elvina Patrick, Lydia Reid, and Parvesh Mudgal, within the intimate atmosphere of the backstage environment.
