In Radio On, a compelling fashion editorial for HERO Magazine, photographer Tom Sloan masterfully employs a recurring, voyeuristic frame to construct an atmospheric narrative. By consistently positioning the camera from the driver's seat of a stationary vehicle, the project creates a unique sense of distance and observational intimacy. The interior dashboard, steering wheel, and mirrors act as natural borders, pulling the viewer into the role of an unseen passenger watching subjects drift through rural roads and quiet suburban landscapes. Stylist Andra Amelia Buhai complements this cinematic, documentary-style approach with a wardrobe that balances structured formal wear against vibrant, tactile knits and bold patterns, ensuring the figures stand out against the muted, overcast environment. Featuring models Amir Ogunsi and Benjamin Carion, the imagery leans into a refined, reportage-style aesthetic, utilizing soft natural light to enhance the moody, desaturated color palette. By blending live-action technique with the stillness of portraiture, the editorial captures a distinct sense of place that feels both grounded and detached. The project successfully navigates the tension between the mundane setting and high-concept fashion, resulting in a series that reads as a quiet, reflective road trip through a hazy, timeless countryside, perfectly capturing the intersection of movement and stillness inherent in classic lifestyle reportage.
