About

Documenting a day of skate culture across Los Angeles, this editorial feature for HERO Magazine follows model Andrey Tarasov through a series of candid, observational vignettes. Captured by photographer Graham Dunn, the series utilizes analogue film and natural light to translate the grit and kinetic energy of urban street skating into a cinematic, monochromatic visual language. The imagery moves between high-speed action shots, captured with motion blur and dynamic framing, and quiet, documentary-style portraits. By leaning into the textures of brutalist architecture, asphalt schoolyards, and chain-link fencing, the project frames its subject within the raw infrastructure of the city. The work avoids polished artifice in favor of an earthy, high-contrast aesthetic that underscores the spontaneity of the day.
