Dazed Magazine’s 'Hunting my own skin' editorial explores a series of high-contrast portraits captured by photographer Joe Lai. The project leans into a surreal, avant-garde aesthetic, utilizing editorial studio lighting to define its moody atmosphere. Fashion editor and stylist Hamish Wirgman leads the visual direction, pairing structured leather and sequined textures with unconventional accessories like translucent masks. Makeup artist Ana Takahashi executes a graphic, theatrical beauty look, while hair stylist Kiyoko Odo provides architectural grooming. Set designer Lydia Chan builds the environment with raw, industrial elements including wooden flats and scaffolding, providing a tactile contrast to the polished imagery.
